A New Beginning - 31st Oct 09
From humble beginnings in 2000, the Māori Interest Group website has finally arrived at a point where I can say that I am truly proud of the online results which have been achieved through the aid of improved software and more importantly, the time consuming dedication and technical support from Eddie Cowell.
The site has ultimately come of age and we can now sit proudly amongst some of the best sites to be found on the ‘net!
This is the fourth metamorphosis we have gone through over the years and is certainly one of the most significant to improve our mana, with improved navigation tabs and the addition of photos relevant to our group at the forefront of the homepage, we hope the site will now give a more welcoming feel as you get to know the dedicated band of members whom have made the MIG what it is today.
Leaving behind the stark approach of the old site, even as practical and functional that it was, we hope you too will also embrace the new direction we have taken with the same enthusiasm and on this regard we hope you will all assist us further with constructive criticism, advice and suggestions and most importantly of all, continue to supply us with high quality (jpeg) images suitable for use on the homepage, which will allow us to maintain an ever changing theme to capture the attention of first time visitor to the site and also have the returning visitor keen to see what has been added from the time before.
With a new ISP the site now comes with a new web address; www.nzsgmig.com which we hope will be easier to remember and also strengthens our association with the New Zealand Society of Genealogists.
Our primary aim through these pages is to give both the beginner and seasoned researcher ideas on further avenues of research, while keeping our members as up-to-date as possible on our regular activities, meetings, displays and available resources.
All ideas and contributions to further improve the new site will always be carefully considered and implemented where possible, but this can only be achieved through your support.
Good luck with your research and we hope you will all benefit from the pages that follow – don’t forget to add us to your favourites!
Haere Ra
Bruce Mathers – Webmaster.
